Forbes.com has a slideshow of 8 female food bloggers. I hadn't heard of any of them except for Deb. Additional food resources are always welcome!
Related: I made this spinach and chickpea dish tonight and it is VERY GOOD.
Catty sidenote: there are some bad eyebrows in this slideshow. Ximena, make an appointment at Benefit already!

Suggestion to people selling Coachella tickets
LA Vendy Awards
If you are in town on May 15 I suggest you go to the Vendy Awards (all you can eat truck food for $50) and tell me all about it (via).
Fun fact from the Vendy website:
We’ve been running this event for five years, and no one has ever gone home hungry or thirsty. We’ll stop selling tickets when we reach our limit. Because vendors can only work so fast, you will have to stand in line, but that is where you make new friends. One couple even got married after meeting in line at the Vendys! Results may vary, however.

I smell like garlic
because I had lunch here at the recommendation of the LAT. It was tasty but did not change my life. In the words of Jenny, it's no L'as du Fallafel.
Big ticket divorces
In the latest McCourt story, and this depressing Patricia Cohen profile, the ex-wives seem like greedy, vengeful shrews. Is this unique to exes (of the extremely wealthy) or part of the human condition?

Surly Goat

Last night I went to the Surly Goat. It is a decent-sized place with a front and back patio, with a lot of beers ont ap for $5-8. It was not too crowded, and most people were young. It falls somewhere between 3rd Stop and Village Idiot, without a kitchen, though there is a hot dog cart on the back patio!
Pro tip: Park at a meter on Fairfax south of Santa Monica and walk up.

Adventures in public transportation
Picture me rolling!
Update on 3.18: This trip was easy, and I would do it again. Highlights include listening to the people next to me talk about how tarot cards are from the devil and racist tattoo artists. Walking by this bus stop today I saw a guy clipping his fingernails while skateboarding.

Clarence Thomas GTFO
I've said it before and I am sure I will say it again: Clarence Thomas go home! Resign, bail, whatever.
Living in Teartown

Nobody knows why we cry, but we do.
Latest stories to make me cry:
- Researching the Holt and Stone Weeks fellowship
- My second read of "The Dime Store Floor" by David Owen in the New Yorker.
Jenny sent this to me. I should buy her this out of gratitude.

Good laughs from BBC World News
I laughed out loud when I heard these stories last night:
- Karl Rove is proud of waterboarding. A true patriot.
- A group of Australian navy sailors created a competition to see who could sleep with the most women. "Sex on a pool table or with a lesbian reportedly scored higher points."
