Miike Snow's fans were among the more irritating, but it was still a fun set.
Hot Chip was a good dance party even though they were on one of the big stages
Devo was hysterical
Major Lazer reminded me of the Sahara tent when I first went to Coachella in 2007. It was fun and rambunctious without being an entirely Bloody Beetroots-fueled rave. I saw a group passing around a bullet with no attempt at discretion. Party on.

Espresso Victory
I successfully made espresso using Jessica's fancy machine and I didn't even have to watch the instructional DVD!

New Hatfields
Less rustic than the old Hatfields. Food and service were great, decor was unfortunately similar to the womens' knitwear section of Neimans. Bonus: run-in with the Bennetts!
As soon as we were seated, I witnessed a woman and her date photographing their dinner plates. The LAT was onto something here!
Semi-related: there is currently an exhibit of food photography at the Getty.
Last night I made this, which was tasty after a healthy dose of parmesan cheese. My concern is that Trader Joe's pasta has a sweet taste, which makes the whole dish taste like creamed spinach with too much nutmeg. Am I going crazy over here?

No Lesbians
Did you know that some college basketball teams have a No Lesbians policy? Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face!

Fine Cinema of the Early 90s
They just don't make 'em like they used to
The Committments
Kindergarten Cop
A League of Their Own
Big would be on this list too but it came too early (1988).

Liberation Yoga in LAT
Christine is featured prominently in this piece about correct yoga technique. I haven't been to Liberation much recently due to scheduling and pilates but it is still my favorite.

Not my imagination
Coachella really was way more crowded than usual.
I mean they had to make room for these people:
84 people have been transported from Coachella to the hospital this year. That includes drug overdoses, a broken neck, a private security officer who fell off his horse and a naked man under the influence of "unknown substances" who smashed out the windows of parked cars with his head before he was tasered by police. (from LAT)

More sweet pics here.
Working out to get fat
If exercise won't help me get thin (as TIME and the NYT mag say), I can save the money from my Pilates membership and spend it all at Yogurtland.

Leather shorts at Coachella
Are you kidding me, whowhatwear? Refinery29 is more reasonable, though no one wants to see me in another vest. I also like what they have to say about cute clothes for biking.
Also I am ready for some new sunglasses.

Strawberry Dumplings
Tonight I made this recipe. The dumplings were fairly bland, but maybe that is the point. With whipped cream they made a decent dessert, and tomorrow I am adding Greek yogurt and calling it breakfast.
Save the Peak
Less than 3 days left to help the campaign to prevent the land where the Hollywood sign sits frombeing developed for private homes.
Donate here to add the 138 acre site to Griffith Park and keep it as public land.

Balling: Moustaches edition
Costume idea for Halloween 2010:
Butler's Matt Howard with terrible moustache.
FIPS has a list of terrible ways men alter their appearance. I particularly agree with the assessment that moustaches can only be worn by asshole bartenders at Gjelina, and that pointy-toed shoes are off limits.
Cool comeback Tiger. The goatee makes it legit.

Personal traits used to screen airline passengers
Does drug possession count as a personal trait? Bad hair? Smelling like a bomb?

I have been reading a fair amount abotu the iPad because I want to be persuaded to like it.
Up to this point I believe that there are people who surely want it (Macfags and gadget early adopters) and peopel who surely don't (people who are irritated by Macfags and those who would rather spend money on food, drinks, clothes, etc.). I am waiting to see who is in the middle, and if anyone can be pulled from one group to another, and I haven't figured that out yet.
Here is a real fanboy piece with nice pics and an optimistic look at the creative future as guided by tablets (but I don't think this piece successfully argues that iPad is THE tablet for the job).
This is a piece about how the iPad will eradicate th eneed for any other kind of computer device.
Here is a more tech-oriented argument against the iPad, and moreover against Apple's DRM-heavy business model that encourages one to buy more, not create different.
I have a question about the way that the tablet is supposed to save print media: how? I thought the issue with print is that lots of advertising revenue has been lost, primarly in the classified pages, and papers, magazines, etc. cannot make up for that revenue with online ads. So how is the iPad supposed to help? By increasing the number of peopel who will subscribe? So that advertisers will pay a lot to get in front of their eyes? Or the subscription fees are supposed to make a difference?
Please, someone explain this part to me. Update on 4/9/10: Oh, iAd.
