“Apples to Apples 4D” (The audience is pummelled with apples at the end of the movie.)

I don't care for romantic comedy genre nearly as much as Mindy Kaling, but I do have interest in seeing some of her proposed movies:

"Bananagrams 3D”

“Apples to Apples 4D” (The audience is pummelled with apples at the end of the movie.)

“Crest Whitestrips”

“Sharks vs. Volcanoes”

“King Tut vs. King Kong”

“Streptococcus vs. Candidiasis” (Strep Throat vs. Yeast Infection)

High-waisted trouser pants

I would like to pull off this look, but don't want to shop at American Apparel to do so.

Also, this couple's hair can go elsewhere.

Black Swan

Because I like creepy movies, I was really looking forward to seeing Black Swan. If I had read any of the reviews (LAT, NYer, etc.) my enthusiasm would have been tampered. Even though I don't think it stands up as a masterpiece of the medium (that bar is high), I liked watching it. The film moved quickly, was nice to look at, and remained suspenseful until the end when some of the imagery became overblown and a little silly.

Discussion questions: Was Winona Ryder happy to play her role or did she cry inside and wear this heinous outfit to the premiere as a result?

Is Vincent Kassel attractive or repulsive?

Is Sebastian Stan still dating Leighton Meister, and if not, is he still interested in brunettes??

Lena Dunham: Inspiration or source of raging jealousy?

Lena Dunham has received a ton of press for Tiny Furniture (see: New Yorker profile, Vanity Fair blurb, NY Mag, etc.). I can't tell if I am supposed to be inspired by her success, jealous of her from-day-one artistic leanings, or pissed that she is making a pilot about post-collegiate life in New York. Mostly I am incredulous of her downtown wardrobe mentioned in the New Yorker profile: Alexander Wang and Comme de Garcons on a 24-year-old!

Hair Envy

I know I am way late to the party for people jealous of Alexa Chung, but right now it's just her hair that's getting to me.

A Single Man

Last night I saw A Single Man (after a very strong martini and very garlicky hummus at Westside Tavern). I liked it much more than I thought I would. Unsurprisingly, it is very stylish and nice to look at; surprisingly (to me), it moved right along and wasn't too opaque or allegorical or boring. At 99 minutes long, it is my ideal movie length (a key reason why I rarely go to the movies).

One particularly enjoyable aspect of this film is that everyone is so attractive. In particular, there are many handsome young men in this film. The most off-the-charts smoldering is Jon Kortajarena (he is 24 years old, dear Lord).

And the sad sack from About a Boy is all grows up (his name is Nicholas Hoult)!

I think a few scenes were shot at Chez Jay (my dad parked cars there in the 60s, and will gladly tell you about it).

Then I watched the last episode of Conan and cried.

January Jones

I think she is beautiful. My roommate has worked with her, and says she is nice but trashy.

The French word for model is mannequin

I probably knew that a few years ago and have since forgotten. Creeps me out to see it in print.

I really like Catherine McNeil.

VS Fashion Show 2009

Last night, as part of Mike's Purple Belt victory party, I watched the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

I have never been a huge Miranda Kerr fan but I have to declare her the winner.

I am also sad to report that Alessandra Ambrosio, who used to be my favorite, looks weird.

And, I am dying to know if Marisa Miller's breasts are real. Something about they way her cleavage comes together is suspect. But, what do I know about real cleavage?
